If you are immigrating with children you probably wonder what does the Russian kinderarten look like. So, here we will look at typical Russian nursery school.

Are those kindergartens private or public?

These are public kindergartens. However, there are some private kindergratens in Russia too. The standard for a public kindergarten is very high in Russia, so private kindergartens are less popular. Only 2% of Russian children attend private kindergartens.


How long are the kids in the kindergarten?

Usually from 7AM t 7 PM. Most adults work from 9 AM till 6PM, so this is done for parents convenience.


How much does the public kindergarten cost?

For example in 2023 in Ekaterinburg the price for a 12 hour day(7 Am till 7 PM) is 3650 rubles ( 38 dollars ) a month.

How many times does my child eat during 12 hour day?

Usually, 4-5 times.
Breakfast: 8.30 – 9.00;
Second breakfast: 10.30-11;
Lunch: 12-13
Afternoon snack: 15:30;
Dinner: 18.30

Does Russian kindergarten has a medical professional on site?

Yes. Besides nurse, every Russian kindergarten has speech therapist and psychologist.
